SWWIMM Celebrates Women in Engineering Day
Last month we launched the very first networking event hosted by South West Women in Infrastructure, Mining & Minerals (SWWIMM) - a celebration of Women in Engineering Day recognised internationally on 23 June.
This day holds a special place in the hearts of our newly announced Directors, who all have backgrounds in the Engineering field:
Kate Baker (Mechanical Engineer, MIEAust)
Amy Walton (Civil Engineer, FIEAust CPEng)
Ashleigh Collins (Chemical Engineer, PhD Mineral Process Engineering)
From https://www.inwed.org.uk/about/the-history-of-international-women-in-engineering-day/
International Women in Engineering Day has become a platform to showcase the incredible work of women engineers worldwide.
Each year events and activities are organised across the globe to raise the profile of women in engineering, acting as a source of encouragement and support, empowering female engineers to reach their potential.
This day not only celebrates the achievements of women in engineering, it inspires young professionals and aspirational engineers alike.
Employees, allies, and supporters across the local STEM, infrastructure, mining and minerals industries came together at our launch event to network, meet new people, and celebrate together.
This event wouldn’t have been possible without the help of our amazing event supporters:
Edgeloe Engineering
Geographe Civil
Harley Dykstra
The Chamber of Minerals and Energy of Western Australia
Everett Consulting NT
Monadelphous
Thank you also to Bec and Brenton Pyke at The Old Lyric for providing our amazing venue, and the wonderful Ben Yew Photography for capturing our event.
We can’t wait to start our next collaboration with businesses in the near future, to bring our next SWWIMM hosted events!
